Dating as far back as the 1950s, the Fat FC670 is an accurate recreation of a vintage hardware compressor/limiter that's often cited as the 'holy grail' of outboard studio equipment. Comprised of a stripped-back interface that includes only the basic necessities, no matter how you set your FC670 compressor, you'll enjoy transparent compression with the signature analog warmth you get from hardware equipment. While Attack/Release controls are not present, FC670 employs a single Time Constant control. While there may be only six settings to choose from, FC670 is much more flexible than what meets the eye. This control affects the release time of your compression, ranging from 0.3s to 25s between steps 1- 6. Steps 5 and 6 are program-dependent and feature automatic functions, dynamically changing with the input source material, providing fast recovery for short duration peaks and long recovery when the program level remains high. The Attack rate of the FAT FC670 is extremely fast, producing a limiting effect on the first 1/10,000 of a second. This incredibly fast responsive attack is ideal for softening harsh transients from instruments such as a drum kit, helping to sit within your mix without sounding harsh and 'pokey'.

A radical departure from existing designs of the time, the 670-style compressor delivers unique and transparent compression. Regardless of the intensity, the FC670 remains extremely clean with virtually no distortion and noise. This transparency is ideal for compressing highly dynamic instruments to very high levels without introducing any audible thumps.

Compatible with both your DAW host and the PreSonus StudioLive Series III mixers, the Fat FC670 Compressor enables you to mix using high-quality plug-ins on stage, no matter what other equipment is available to you. Alternatively, recording studios using StudioLive Series III mixers can lighten the CPU usage from their computers by processing directly onto your digital mixer.
