The swamp ash body provides the PRS bass guitar with sweet, airy tones infused with a classic ''twang'' characteristic. Boasting plenty of resonance and sustain to suit a variety of playing styles, the swamp ash tonewood offers players a pleasing high end, with firm lows and a slightly scooped midrange. A Hipshot Transtone bridge is also included to deliver the perfect level of intonation and string stability, featuring steel saddles secured to the main assembly for a punchy, long lasting sustain.
The use of maple and walnut for the neck creates a beautifully intricate design, while adding subtle harmonics to your tone and offering an incredibly comfortable performance. The combination of the two woods provide a blend of warmth and brightness, creating a full tonality with snappy mids, full lows, and a sizzling high end. Adding a walnut fingerboard enhances the bass' natural warmth, creating a sweet character and adding sparkle to the highs while thickening up the lows. Its 34'' scale length provides an instantly comfortable playing experience for both old and new players, while its through-body construction helps improve sustain and resonance for an enhanced performance.
The Kingfisher bass is equipped with a set of PRS-designed humbucking pickups, providing the bass with its beautiful, sparkling top end and high midrange growl. Designed with an old-school tonal character, these deep, thick-sounding humbucking pickups deliver the classic ''clacky'' tone to give the bass the perfect combination of vintage and modern sounds. Independent volume knobs and a master tone allows players to dial in the perfect sound for any situation, offering plenty of top end clarity and punch for times when you need to cut through the mix.
Like many guitars from PRS, the attention to detail featured on the walnut fingerboard is simply eye-catching, featuring a selection of birds which make up PRS’ iconic inlays. The bird inlays include representations of the following species; peregrine falcon (3rd fret), marsh hawk (5th fret), ruby throated hummingbird (7th fret), common tern (9th fret), Coopers hawk (12th fret), kite (15th fret), sparrow (17th fret), storm petrel (19th fret), and a landing hawk (21st fret).
The Kingfisher series from PRS offers a reliable instrument for both modern and traditional players. Designed in the PRS Maryland shop, the Kingfisher is built to cut through mixes while holding down the band with its sweet, warm fundamental tone. Its modern style and signature sound lends itself to a wide range of playing styles, allowing musicians of different musical backgrounds to find the perfect level of comfort and style with the Kingfisher series.
