A Short Scale Bass Designed for Everyone

Chowny collaborated with Big Country bassist Scott Whitley (formerly The Animals) to create the perfect short scale bass suitable for everyone. Traditionally, the short scale bass is largely associated with student basses, offering a limited, muddy tone and not much else. Scott's signature Chowny bass was designed to change that concept.

Short scale basses are perfect for players looking for comfort and ease of use. Its slightly smaller neck makes fretwork effortless, letting your fingers dance easily across the entire fingerboard. It also provides a 'slinky' feel that's ideal for delivering excellent vibrato and lead lines. The SWB-Pro takes all that and enhances it with a versatile, modern tone and a professional performance.

Professional Construction for a Profession Performance

All basses from Chowny are built using quality components and tonewoods, ensuring you receive a beautiful instrument that doesn't compromise in performance or tone. The SWB-Pro bass enhances this base level with additional components and tonewoods, providing you with an improved playing experience.

The Signature bass features an ash body topped with walnut, creating a beautifully boutique aesthetic. Its neck is crafted from walnut and maple. This design helps strengthen the neck and protect it against warping or bowing over time. A set of Wilkinson's tuners are also added, improving tuning stability so you can play all night long without the worry of your bass going out of tune.

You also receive an incredibly comfortable playing feel. The neck and body contours are designed to let your hands naturally rest against the woods. Improving comfort and letting you deliver a fast performance. The contoured neck joint also assists in playing comfort - letting you reach the high-frets with ease.

Another professional aspect of Scott's Signature Chowny is its fixed bridge, which fixes each string individually to the bass. This setup lets the strings vibrate freely without interfering with one another, resulting in enhanced clarity and sustain.

Equipped with EMG Pickups for a Versatile Tone

To give you a beautifully full sound that suits almost any musical style, the Chowny SWB is equipped with a set of EMG's versatile Jazz pickups. Its sweeping harmonic overtones fill your sound with plenty of punch and jazzy characteristics. You can add dimension and clarity to your performance, thanks to its broad tonal range.

The EMG pickups are designed with a very low ratio of resistance to inductance. This increases the pickup's low-end response, while tightening up the midrange for a powerful punch and delivering a dynamic high-end. The end result is an incredibly versatile performance suitable for both the studio and stage.
