The Trevor James Evo Tenor Sax is the ideal instrument for those looking to upgrade to a more intermediate level model. The professionally designed crook modifications found on the Evo help to produce a full tone, while the strengthened crook receiver protects the instrument against potential damage during assembly. As a standard for all intermediate Trevor James saxophones, the Evo tenor sax uses blue steel springs for enhanced key action for faster and more responsive playing.
The keywork on the Evo has been redesigned to be more rounded with dished table keys for an effortless playing action. Similar to other saxophones from Trevor James, the Evo has top quality Italian leather pads under the keys. These pads create a tight seal around the tone holes which provides great projection and excellent intonation. Under the pads there are metal reflectors which provide a full-bodied tone across the full range of the saxophone with a crisp attack. Once the Trevor James Evo tenor saxophone has been constructed, it is coated with a gold lacquer which helps to produce a large, warm sound.
The pads on your saxophone are important as they prevent air from escaping when you press the keys down. The Evo tenor sax comes with high-quality Italian leather pads, ensuring you will have the best feeling action on your keys with the least air escaping. Each pad also features a metal reflector or "resonator". These small discs woven into the pads help enhance the tone of your instrument and are an important part of the sound. Metal reflectors tend to produce a slightly brighter tone with a crisp attack.
When pressing your keys you want to feel the right about of tension on your fingers. That's why Trevor James have added blue needle springs to the Evo tenor. The steel springs are "blued" with heat to make them harder and prevent rust from forming. The advantage of blue needle springs is the increased spring action in relation to diameter when compared to stainless steel springs. There is also a more even feel of tension throughout the key travel, making for a better feeling when you are playing.
The Trevor James Evo sax includes everything you need to start practising straight away. It includes a mouthpiece so you can use your favourite reed, a neck strap for a comfortable playing position, a ligature for correct reed positioning and a cap to protect it when not in use. The Evo tenor also includes a high-quality deluxe case which will protect your instrument while travelling, making it perfect for students.
