Sitka Spruce Top & Walnut Body

The Taylor 114ce-N features a beautiful sitka spruce top that offers a broad dynamic range and a crisp articulation. Sitka spruce is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops as it is versatile and accommodates numerous playing styles, from aggressive strumming to finger-picking. Sitka spruce is quite elastic in nature, which resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright highs. This stunning tonewood is contrasted with walnut back and sides, which yields excellent balance with tonal characteristics that fall between rosewood and mahogany. Walnut also delivers bright articulate tones blended with warm and full sound, and firmer low-end.

Tropical Mahogany Neck & Ebony Fingerboard

The Taylor 114ce-N features a tropical mahogany neck which is topped with an ebony fingerboard, offering a distinct blend of warmth and bright attack. Tropical mahogany produces a mid-range powerhouse that is known for its balance, durability, and articulation, making it an ideal tonewood for guitar necks. A Grand Auditorium Body

The Grand Auditorium is an original Taylor design that was introduced in 1994. It is one of Taylor’s most popular and versatile body shapes, due to producing an original acoustic voice that is big enough to handle medium-strength picking and strumming. It features an impressive balance across the tonal spectrum, especially in the mid-range, producing clear, well-defined notes that suited both strumming and finger-style playing. Taylor ES-N Electronics

The Taylor 114ce-N comes equipped with the ES-N single source, under-saddle transducer for tone shaping and amplified sound. The preamp design and tone controls have been modified to complement a nylon-string voice. The ES controls enable players to achieve plenty of tone shaping, specifically suited to nylon-strung models.

Ornate Details

The Taylor 114ce-N's ornate details are based on traditional, classical, nylon stringed, acoustic-themed styling. The 114ce features a traditional multi-strip sound-hole rosette complemented by its sitka spruce top and black binding, providing a pleasing high-end classical guitar aesthetic. The ebony fingerboard is topped with Taylor's 4 mm dot fingerboard markers inlaid in Italian acrylic for durability.
