Raucous riffs. If you want to achieve the devastating tone of Between the Buried and Me's guitarist Dustie Waring, the PRS Dustie Waring CE 24 Ltd is the ideal guitar for you. Equipped with his signature set of Mojotone "DW Tomahawk" humbuckers, this guitar produces an aggressive, powerful sound that's perfect for any progressive metal guitarist.
With a warm, fat sounding mahogany body and bright maple top, this guitar can deliver a massively thick sound that will easily slice through the mix. Aggressive and melodic. Dustie Waring is the guitarist in American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. Known for their unique sound which slides between devastating, sledgehammer riffs and lush atmospheric lead lines, Between the Buried and Me tackle a range of metal genres. So when creating his signature guitar, Dustie needed something that could deliver a wide selection of tones, everything from brutal high-gain chugs to harmonic soaring solos. The PRS Dustie Waring CE 24 is exactly that - a versatile guitar built for the modern metal guitarist.
Crushing tone that cuts through. If you want to replicate the range of both heavy and melodic sounds that Between the Buried and Me are so well known for, you will be pleased to know that the Dustie Waring CE 24 comes equipped with a set of signature Mojotone DW Tomahawk pickups. These aggressive humbuckers push out plenty of output with a fat bottom end and crystal clear highs. Perfect for both heavy riffs and intricate lead playing.
This is all down to the Tomahawk's unique design. Made with a blend of Ceramic and Alnico magnets, and constructed using a special winding technique, these pickups take the best aspects of two popular pickup magnets and combine them to make a totally new sounding humbucker. Combine this with a single volume and tone control, along with a 5-way pickup selector switch, and you get a set of pickups that can produce a wide range of powerful tones that have no problem slicing through the mix.
Crafted to produce the best sound possible, the Dustie Waring CE 24 uses the highest quality tonewoods in order to deliver a deep, powerful sound with plenty of sustain. The wood used in your guitar is the root of your sound, so selecting the correct combination is essential. A warm mahogany body provides a deep, dark tone, while the maple top adds brightness and sparkle to the sound.
This classic combination of tonewoods perfectly balance out to create a strong, cutting sound with a deep low end, punchy mids, and glistening highs. Along with the snap of a bolt-on maple neck and a smooth maple fretboard, you've got an incredibly versatile guitar that can handle any style you throw at it.
Fast and smooth. Technical metal genres require precise playing, so when designing this guitar, Dustie wanted to create the perfect neck that gave amazing comfort with exceptional speed and playability. To do this, he took a standard PRS Pattern Thin neck design and modified it, making it slightly thinner front to back. This allows your hand to rest more comfortably when playing further down the fretboard, so you can play faster for longer.
With a satin finish on the back and a silky smooth maple fretboard, you can slide up and down this slim maple neck with ease. Whatever your playing style, you will feel right at home when you pick up this stunning guitar.
When you think of high quality locking tremolos, one name instantly comes to mind - Floyd Rose. If you want to experiment with extreme pitch bends and crazy tremolo tricks, a Floyd Rose tremolo system is the perfect bridge for you. With its double locking design, each string is firmly clamped between the bridge and locking nut.
The result? You can push the tremolo arm to the max with deep dive bombs and piercing squeals - all the while retaining perfect tuning stability. When designing the The Dustie Waring signature CE 24, Dustie wanted a reliable guitar that could do everything, including unique pitch effects. So a Floyd Rose tremolo was the only choice.
