Ideal for use with synths and more!
The Korg SQ-1 Analog Step Sequencer is designed to seamlessly connect and control the MS-20 and many other types of equipment. Unlike other step sequencers that commonly use the V/Oct standard, the SQ-1 supports the Hz/V standard, ensuring excellent pitch stability when controlling the MS-20 or MS-20 mini.
.Additionally, the V/Oct standard is also supported, allowing you to easily control a wide variety of synthesizers. The SQ-1 offers two CV/GATE OUT channels, standard MIDI OUT, USB MIDI, littleBits out, and SYNC IN/OUT channels. With its versatile connectivity options, the SQ-1 is the perfect hardware sequencer for your musical setup.
Versatile sequencer modes
The SQ-1 provides two channels (A and B) of 8-step sequencer that can operate consecutively or be used in various other modes. You can run A and B in sequence to create a 16-step sequencer, play the steps randomly, or use A and B to control different parameters simultaneously. Whether you prefer simple sequences or complex changes, the SQ-1 offers a variety of modes to suit your needs and musical style.
2x8 step configuration - with step buttons taken from the Volca
With its 2 x 8 step buttons, the SQ-1 allows you to turn notes on/off in the usual way. However, by using the MODE button, you can switch their function and unlock powerful possibilities. This feature enables you to "perform" the sequence itself, just like on a volca unit. The "Active Step" function lets you skip steps mid-way through a sequence, while the "Step Jump" function allows you to instantly play a specific step, creating irregular rhythms and short loops. You can also use the "Slide" function to smoothly connect steps, perfect for generating an acid sound or controlling a synth bass.
Compact and portable - battery-operated design
Featuring a sturdy sheet-metal body, the SQ-1 is a compact and expertly crafted sequencer. Its design exudes a sense of solidity that perfectly complements the MS-20 series. Whether you operate it on two AA batteries or USB bus power, the SQ-1 is built to withstand the rigors of the music production process.
Advanced options
In addition to its core features, the SQ-1 offers selectable sequence step resolutions, allowing you to choose between quarter notes, eighth notes, and 16th notes. You can also specify how the step knobs control the pitch, enabling you to either directly specify the pitch or select the closest note in a major, minor, or chromatic scale. These additional functions provide even more flexibility and creativity to your sequencing workflow.
With its ability to connect and control a wide range of equipment, versatile sequencer modes, innovative step buttons, and sturdy construction, the Korg SQ-1 2x8 Analog Step Sequencer is an essential tool for any musician or producer seeking intuitive and precise control over their music setup.
