The Engl E840/50 Tube Power Amp features 5881 valves giving you 2 x 50 watts or raw power and high headroom. 5881 tubes are chosen to provide similar ‘American’ tones to the 6L6, but will break up at slightly lower volumes for gooey compression and warmth. They will deliver a versatile performance when paired with any preamp such as the Engl E Series. They will amplify your tone with the organic warmth and nuance of tone that only valves can achieve, and with 50 watts on each side, you’ll never fall short on volume or projection. Independent left/right channels allow for true stereo setups with the power to drive large cabs and create walls of sound on stage.
Dual Channel Operation
The E840 includes independent left and right channels with control over volume and Presence, providing access to tonal sculpting to match your room and preamp. The whole amp has an A/B mode, which can be switched remotely via external footswitch or Engl’s propriety MIDI switching system. This allows you to set to completely different volume/tone settings and switch between them on the fly, allowing for solo volume boosts or tonal alteration during your live set.
Versatile Connectivity
The E840/50 includes multiple speaker output options to enable it to fit with virtually any speaker configuration that you can devise. It also includes dedicated standby switches for the left/right channels, allowing single-sided operation for when you only require a mono setup with 25 watts of tube power. These features are supplied in a compact and rugged 2U rack-size chassis, ready to become part of your rig and hit the stage.
