Nuendo is a 200 track recording facility complete with a 200 channel audio mixer including all you'll need for fully professional recording, editing and automated mixing. Whether your working on a film score doing post production, creating a musical masterpiece or surround sound design for a new video game, television show, or even a radio play, Nuendo has the tools to get the job done easier, and for a fraction of what you'd expect to pay. Nuendo won't bind your creative output with support for mono, stereo, or any surround format up to eight discrete channels deep.
When it comes to what hardware to use we make it easy as Nuendo supports the ASIO standard audio driver format giving you literally hundreds of choices from a multitude of developers. A Device Setup dialog lets you configure video and audio drivers, external control surfaces, and many other useful parameters, or simply add new functionality to Nuendo as it becomes available.
Nuendo's innovative use of editing tools and graphic user interface make it easy to optimize your daily workflow. The Project window is a fully object-orientated system allowing real-time placement of audio segments and video clips, whereas the Browser window allows for edit decision list style editing giving you the best of both ways of working. Add to this professional track sheet printing, 9 pin machine control, sample accurate synchronization and so much more, and it becomes clear that Nuendo offers an amazing amount of creative control over your ideas.
For the highest available sound quality Nuendo uses state of the art precision 32 bit float algorithms throughout its signal path, plus up to 32-bit 96kHz recording and playback is available today as a standard feature. Any combination of mixer channels can be freely grouped, or sent to one or more of up to 64 Sub-Group channels offering an amazing amount of flexibility. Each channel in the Nuendo VST mixer has 4 band EQ, with 4 insert points for plug-in effects, plus 8 auxiliary sends and a Master section with up to 8 separate global plug-in effects. To make mixing even easier Nuendo gives you the choice to use key commands, or a mouse, for controlling the volume of selected mixer channels. You can bounce your final mix to disk in real-time or use Nuendo's off-line mix-down mode, which allows for using more channels than your present computer might allow, and for final mastering needs a suite of tools such as Apogee's UV22 Dither plug-in are included at no extra charge. Rest assured with Nuendo you will be able to meet or beat any deadline that might come your way.
Though Nuendo is primarily an audio production tool, it has access to many of the best aspects of Steinberg MIDI technology. A comprehensive tempo editor is included offering a precise relationship between absolute time, sample frames, or tempo-based time-scales such as bars & beats. MIDI notes can be recorded, edited and displayed within all time domains, so whether you are spotting specific MIDI triggered sound effects with a sampler, or laying down musical passages, you can use the same familiar tool set as you would for audio editing.
Nuendo allows for MIDI events to be routed to internal MIDI devices such as sending them to VST plug-ins, allowing for example the real-time remote control of effect parameters. Other internal devices that can receive MIDI-data are Virtual Studio Instruments which are output directly into the audio stream, and since these instruments run entirely without the need of dedicated DSP hardware they can take any form such as: emulated synths, virtual samplers, or vintage drum machines.
